Common questions
My child can't work out what to do.
Tap the yellow lightbulb in the top-right corner at any time. It shows the
next thing to do — where to put a piece of track, which crate goes in which
car, or which button to press. It never runs out and there is no penalty
for using it.
They laid the track wrong and got upset.
The bin button next to undo clears the whole track so they can start again.
If they hit it by accident, one tap of undo puts every piece back.
There's no sound.
Check the speaker button on the map screen, and turn the volume up while the
game is open rather than on the home screen. Puffertown plays even when your
device is on silent, so that the train whistle still works.
How do I see what my child is learning?
Tap Grown-ups on the map and answer the question. The dashboard
shows which skills they have been practicing in plain English. You can share
a picture of the week from there too — it carries no name and no photo.
How much is free?
Meadow Junction — fifteen full routes — and Free Play are free forever.
They are not a trial and they do not expire. The other five regions (75
routes) need the one-time Family Pass.
I want to restore a purchase on a new device.
Pass the parental gate, open the purchase screen and tap Restore.
As long as you are signed into the same Apple Account (on iPhone and iPad) or
the same Google account in Google Play (on Android), it will come back at
no cost.
Can the rest of my family use the Family Pass?
On iPhone and iPad, yes. The Family Pass works with Apple's Family Sharing, so people in your
family group can use it on their own devices. If it doesn't unlock on its
own, open the purchase screen behind the parental gate on that device and
tap Restore purchases. On Android, the Pass belongs to the Google
account that bought it: sign in to Google Play with that account on the
other device and tap Restore purchases.
Is there a subscription?
No. The Family Pass is a single one-time purchase that unlocks every
region and engine permanently. There is nothing recurring to cancel, and
Meadow Junction and Free Play stay free either way.
Screen Time stops the game in the middle of a route.
Puffertown is listed under Games, so a Games time allowance in Screen Time
applies to it. If you'd rather it didn't, open Screen Time on your child's
device and add Puffertown to Always Allowed, or give it its own limit.
Does it need the internet?
No. Puffertown's own code makes no network requests, and the game works
exactly the same in aeroplane mode, on a plane, or in the car. Only buying
or restoring the Family Pass needs a connection, because that goes through
Apple or Google Play.
